July 31, just 2 days before the Washington State tournament I received the worst personal injury to date, 2 torn ankle ligaments. The recovery process and returning to work was challenging and successful in large part to the great coaching staff, thank you very much for your help Jeremy, Justin, Shannon, Nick, Glenn, and Diane. This injury did create a winner, Nick was able to upgrade doubles partners to win the open doubles at the Washington State tournament!
Sitting out of tournaments, weekly leagues, and USTA matches created a lack of much needed competition. Fortunately I was able to find NWfoosball.com and still competed in the Washington State foosball tournament. While those tournament results were expectedly poor it was a fun learning experience to try to compete in a new arena.
After a humbling experience of learning proper injury recovery and the joy of coming back after being sedentary I was fortunate enough to return to tennis competition in less than 3 month. All credit for the speedy recovery is due to UW Sports Medicine, thank you very much Dr. Bouche and Physical Therapist Kayoto for helping me get back on the court so quickly! While provided exceptional care at UW Sports Medicine those appointments would not have been made without the strong words from Gini, thank you very much for encouragement to schedule an appointment so quickly!
